Larch bookcase from the Ditta Gianduja in Turin, early 20th century

Wooden bookcase/cabinet forming part of the furnishings of the historic Ditta Gianduja in Turin, founded in 1867 by Giuseppe Negro. The shop, specialized in the sale of haberdashery and ceremonial items, owes its name to the famous popular Turin mask and represented a true point of reference in the city for its history and for the great variety of products it offered. This piece of furniture in particular was used to sort and contain the internal mail of the shop; specifically, the compartments at the top held incoming packages. Its structure is completely made of solid larch wood, composed of two separable parts: the upper one with vertical dividing shelves and the lower one with a chest of drawers with a long drawer and sixteen small ones. Good condition with some signs of age and superficial wear; partially restored.
