Item description

WK Möbel beautiful extendable teak dining table from 1960, designed by the great Dutch designer Louis van Teeffelen (1921-1972). Refined and elegant extendable dining table in Siam teak, made in Germany, for the WK Möbel of Rheda-Wiedenbrück. Excellent condition, also given his age, 65 years worn in an excellent manner. Minimal marks. No notable signs. Only One small dent that has been repaired, about 5cm on the table top, see photos. A work of art, a snapshot of 1960, when the XVII Olympic Games were hosted in Rome. Extreme elegance of proportions and timeless aesthetic beauty of the product. Length closed 140, open 170.5 cm. Table top width 86cm Height 74cm. Beautiful. The company was founded in 1912 under the name "Deutsche Werkstätten für Wohnkunst". Thanks to the foresight of Arthur Schubert of Dresden, Moritz Langenbach of Frankfurt, Ernst Lewent of Berlin, they were the visionary architects of the spread of good taste in the field of furniture. The goal was to rigorously free the projects from the ballast of prevailing historicism – and this already seven years before the famous school of applied arts, the Bauhaus, founded with a similar goal, was founded. In 1913, the brand was officially launched under the name "WK-Möbel". The assortment consists mainly of bedrooms, offices and dining rooms. In 1952 the main design developments took place through important projects, such as the first series of removable furniture "WKS – Constructa" and the living range "WK-Satink", designed by the German George Satink, whose collaboration began with the company in the late 1950s.
