Umberto Mastroianni, born on 21 September 1910 in Fontana Liri and died on 25 February 1998 in Marino, was an Italian sculptor, painter and partisan. Arriving in Rome in 1924, he honed his sculptural skills under the guidance of Michele Guerrisi in Turin. He initially distinguished himself with pre-war works of mythological and religious subjects. During the war, Mastroianni participated in the Resistance, an experience that profoundly influenced his subsequent art. He was the first Italian abstract sculptor, then evolving towards informal art in the 1950s. He has received numerous awards, including the Feltrinelli Prize from the Accademia dei Lincei in 1973. His works are exhibited in over 280 museums around the world. Size without frame: 56 x 42 cm.
