Giuseppe Cominotti (Cuneo 1792 – Turin 1833). View of Porto Torres (Sardinia), 1823. Lithograph. Measurements: 375 x 255 mm, with frame 573 x 475 mm. Painter, architect and illustrator. He works in Turin in the studio of the architect Ignazio Maria Michelotti as a designer of the bridges and roads division of the Royal Civil Engineering Corps. In 1823 he was in Sardinia to follow the construction of the state road commissioned by King Carlo Felice. He works in publishing, reproducing views and customs that he depicts in watercolors and drawings. In 1832 he returned to Piedmont for health reasons, collaborating in Turin with the architect Carlo Bernardo Mosca. The lithograph comes from the series “Collection of XVI views taken on the central road of Sardinia dedicated to S.E. the Marquis of Villahermosa of his homeland, a most zealous lover MDCCCXXXII ”printed and published in Paris from the lithograph of M.elle Formentin in 1832. Cominotti's drawings date back to 1827. Splendid impression although trimmed to the contour line, manuscript title. Mounted in a period frame painted black.
