Item description

Antique oil painting on bronze with frame not coeval depicting the Annunciation. The theme of the Annunciation is central to the Christian tradition: it is the moment when the Virgin Mary gives her free assent to God so that the divine providential work may be accomplished through her. The painting follows the traditional iconographic scheme of the Annunciation: the angel on the left and the Madonna on the right. In this painting there are many elements full of symbolism, typical of the Christian tradition. The archangel Gabriel is portrayed with the classical pose, that is, at the moment of landing, with the wings folded. Instead of having peacock wings, the messenger has the authentic bird wings. Finally, the angel blesses Mary with his right hand, while with his left he hands the lily, symbol of chastity and purity. Our Lady is kneeling and is separated from the Angel. Respecting the Christian iconographic tradition, Mary wears the red robe, as a symbol of her divine nature, and a blue mantle, a sign of heavenly life. Good state. Origin: Naples XIX century. Measures: 35x45 cm. Certificate of Authenticity. We are at your disposal for further clarification or photographic details. Shipping throughout Italy, Europe and the rest of the world at very low prices in maximum safety and traceability. The shipment will be privately agreed and will not be of high cost.
