Item description

We kindly advise you to read the full description, as we aim to provide detailed technical and historical information to ensure the authenticity of our items. This original and iconic French glazed porcelain vase features a depiction of the African savannah with lush and blooming plants and gazelles in soft and delicate poses. A line of golden paint between the round base and the body of the vase creates an intelligent and aesthetically pleasing break. Black tropical plants and animal silhouettes on white porcelain enhance the lush character of this creation. The vase was designed between 2010 and 2011 by the artist-designer Nicolas Blandin, whose logo appears on the bottom of the vase. It was produced by the French company Emaux de Longwy, where Blandin created most of his works. Born in 1969, Blandin followed classical studies and had an atypical career ranging from communication to fashion, from theater to the defense of education. In 2007 he decided to dedicate himself to his passion for the creation of decorative objects and furniture. Being a self-taught designer heavily influenced by Art Deco and the 1940s, Blandin uses his creations to tell unique stories and ignite the imagination of those watching them. His collaboration with Émaux de Longwy, the iconic porcelain factory based in Lorraine, France, which has maintained tradition since 1798, has been instrumental in its career. The company, for which it manufactures vases and decorative objects, has exhibited its creations in Dubai, New York and Moscow at the famous fair "Art de Vivre". Numerous design studios and interior architects also use Blandin’s services for original collaborations. Famous for its powerful influence on the pottery industry, the Boch family founded the Faïencerie de Longwy in 1798 in a former convent. The production gained notoriety after a visit by Emperor Napoleon I, who ordered ceramics for the imperial houses of the Legion of Honour. In 1835, the d'Huart family became owners of the terracotta factory, which prospered throughout the 19th century. Around 1870, during the Orientalist era, the company envisioned ceramic equivalents of the metal glazes present in China and Japan, giving rise to the famous Longwy enamels. At the same time, the factory continued to produce "daily" terracotta with floral motifs and birds. After participating in the Exhibition of Decorative Arts in 1925, the company experienced a period of quiescence, but since then the terracotta industry has worked to deeply renew forms and decorations. Relations with contemporary artists and designers, including Nicolas Blandin, have given new life to this venerable company. The vase is in excellent condition with a diameter of 19 cm and a height of 40 cm. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (custom-made wooden crates, polystyrene, etc.) to ensure maximum protection and safety of the objects.
