Item description
Pair of armchairs by Illum Wikkelsø for Niels Eilersen, 1960s. These armchairs, made for the Cappell collection, are a remarkable example of vintage design with their clean, essential lines. The high-quality teak frame lends strength and durability, typical of Scandinavian design of that period. The frame displays a smooth, natural finish, highlighting the beauty of the wood and its characteristic grain. The cushions, originally upholstered for comfort, are covered with authentic leather. Over time, the leather has developed a patina that adds character and charm to these armchairs, making them unique pieces. However, a few missing buttons on the cushions are noticeable, a detail that, while not compromising the functionality of the armchairs, testifies to their history and use over the years. These armchairs embody the minimalist elegance of the 1960s, combining simplicity of design with high-quality materials, making them perfect for those who appreciate the vintage aesthetic and craftsmanship of the era. Seat height: 31 cm. Danish designer Illum Wikkelsø (1919-1999) said that furniture should be made of high-quality materials to last, should accommodate the body comfortably and naturally please the eye. He studied as a cabinetmaker and thus began his career working for famous architects.
