Item description

Teak bookcase by Johannes Sorth (Bornholm, Denmark), 1960s. It exemplifies the elegance, minimal ornamentation and functionality characteristic of Danish mid-century modern design. This beautifully designed piece features four shelves, three of which are adjustable, offering flexible storage options. The fixed center shelf adds structural integrity and balance to the overall design of the bookcase. Resting on a minimal, intricately carved base, the bookcase's legs are slightly tapered, a hallmark of Danish design of this period. Reflecting Sorth's exploration of innovative shapes and structures, this bookcase features a subtle variation in shape, being slightly narrower at the top and gradually expanding towards the bottom. This tapered construction adds visual interest and gives it a lighter, airier presence without compromising stability. Crafted from premium, rich teak wood, the bookcase features an exquisite wood grain that adds warmth and a natural aesthetic to any interior space. Although almost six decades have passed, this piece is perfectly preserved. The renovation process was minimal, involving cleaning and refreshing the wood with Danish oil to enhance its natural beauty. It's a truly timeless and versatile design. Shelf depth from top: 23 cm, 23 cm, 24 cm (fixed shelf), 26 cm. Height from the ground: 19 cm.
