Descrizione dell'oggetto

This table lamp was designed in 1971 by architect and designer Claudio Salocchi as part of his prolific collaboration with the company Lumenform. The minimalist but evocative design consists of two interconnected chrome-plated metal slats, onto which a lamp holder, also chrome-plated, is grafted. The piece is in good vintage condition, with patina of time, oxidation and normal signs of wear. Born in Milan in 1934, he graduated in Architecture at the Milan Polytechnic. He taught Distributive Characteristics of Buildings at the Milan Polytechnic and Architectural Composition at the Valle Giulia Faculty of Rome La Sapienza[1]. In 1960 he opened his own design studio and five years later began a long collaboration with Sormani, with whom he was present that same year at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile[2]: that year Salocchi presented the Ellisse collection for Sormani, which thus became the first company to experiment with extruded aluminum[3]. In 1973 he founded the “Non Finalized Research Center” with friends and colleagues Ugo Carrega and Vincenzo Ferrari, with whom he exhibited in 1968 and 1973 at the XIV and XV Triennale di Milano, presenting the film Oggetti sani, oggetti malato. In 1979 he won the Compasso d'Oro award for the Metrosistema home kitchen equipment, produced by Alberti Cucine, also receiving two mentions for two other projects. In 1987 he was again mentioned at the 14th edition of the award. A member of the Association for Industrial Design since 1967, he was vice-president from 1988 to 1990[4]. He has been a curator and jury member for various design awards, including the prestigious Red Dot Design Award in 2004 and 2006.
